As part of the IMPULSE Project and as a continuation of the BremenIDEA Project (2025), Hydrocamp 2026 was successfully held from 29 June to 1 July 2026 at Lake Rawa Pening, Central Java, Indonesia. The camp marked the first implementation of the Community-Engaged Science Camp (CESC) concept, developed through a collaboration between the Institute for Science Education (IDN), University of Bremen, the Science Education Study Program at UIN Sunan Kudus, and Indonesian partners.
The programme brought together 32 students and 8 teachers from eight junior and senior secondary schools in the Lake Rawa Pening and Semarang areas, supported by 10 pre-service science teachers from UIN Sunan Kudus, UIN Salatiga, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), and Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS). The participating schools were SMA Negeri 14 Semarang, SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Semarang, SMP Negeri 38 Semarang, SMP Negeri 41 Semarang, SMA Kartika III-1 Banyubiru, MA Roudlotul Furqon Banyubiru, SMP Negeri 1 Banyubiru, and SMP Negeri 2 Banyubiru. Conducted in close collaboration with the Desa Wisata Sukodono Community (Kebumen Village, Banyubiru, Semarang Regency) and supported by a teacher collaborator from SMP Negeri 8 Semarang, the camp combined outdoor science learning, socio-scientific issue discussions, community engagement, and AI-supported learning activities. An important outcome of the programme was the establishment of Sahabat Air (Friends of Water), a new community initiative to strengthen long-term collaboration in water education.
